Who needs to be licensed?
In general anyone being paid for their part in a real estate transaction
needs to be licensed. A license is generally not required if you are dealing with your own
property or property over which you have power of attorney.
In addition,
licensed attorneys can provide some real estate services without an explicit Department of Real
Estate license.
Licensing ensures a basic level of knowledge
In order to obtain a Real Estate License the candidate must
complete a certified training program and pass an examination, in order to
retain a license the Salesperson must complete further training programs.
